We can expect an official announcement about the Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens in early 2023 after Nikon mixed up the warranty cards.
Reports of a Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens being accidentally revealed by Nikon have been circulating after a customer purchased a Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens but received a warranty card for the former! Whether this is a mistake or an intentional ploy by Nikon to drop hints, one thing’s for sure – we can expect an official announcement about this exciting new lens very soon!
Nikon has been giving us hints about the upcoming Nikon Z 85mm f/1.2 lens for some time now and its appearance on the latest Nikon Z lens roadmap tells us that it’s getting closer to reality. With a total of 25 lenses now available in the Nikon Z series – 11 zooms, 3 wide-angle lenses, 6 standard prime lenses, and soon to be 6 telephoto prime lenses – the Nikon Z system is really taking shape. Unfortunately, the only details we have on the 85mm lens is that it’s part of Nikon’s pro line – meaning that it won’t be light on the wallet. No other official specs have been announced yet.
I’m eagerly awaiting to see if the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S will be unveiled in the early part of 2023. By the way, CP+2023 will take place from February 23rd to 26th, so I’m expecting rumors of new product announcements for CP+ to start popping up towards the end of the year!
