According to a recent tweet by how2fly, it seems that Nikon’s highly anticipated super telephoto zoom lens, the “Z 200-600mm,” will be announced soon. While details are still scarce, there are rumors swirling that it might be the “NIKKOR Z 200-600mm f/6.3” and could be a non-S-Line lens. This has piqued the curiosity of many, as non-S-Line lenses are often associated with more affordable price points. However, considering the impressive focal length of this lens, it may not come as a surprise if it doesn’t come cheap. Nevertheless, the mention of “coming soon” has already stirred up speculation and excitement among photography enthusiasts, and it wouldn’t be surprising if further leaks and rumors surface in the coming weeks.

Adding to the excitement, the “Z 200-600mm” is actually part of Nikon’s official Z lens roadmap, which was last updated on January 5, 2023. This roadmap also includes other exciting lenses such as the 35mm S-Line, 135mm S-Line, 70-180mm, 200-600mm, DX 24mm, and DX 12-28mm PZ. This means that Nikon has some ambitious plans for both FX and DX lenses in 2023, and it’s definitely something for photography enthusiasts to look forward to.

In addition to the lens announcement, Nikon is also scheduled to release their annual financial results for April 2022 to March 2023 on May 11, 2023. Many are anticipating that there could be some significant movements and announcements around that time, possibly including the long-rumored “Z8” camera and some surprise additions to Nikon’s lineup. It’s an exciting time to be a Nikon user, as the brand continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in photography.
If the “Z 200-600mm” lens indeed comes with a reasonable price tag, it could make super-telephoto shooting with a Z-mount camera more accessible than ever before. Many photographers are eagerly awaiting its arrival and are also keeping an eye out for any news on the rumored “Z8” camera, which is expected to make waves in the industry. Could there be a simultaneous announcement of both the lens and the camera? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: Nikon fans have a lot to be excited about in the coming months!
