It looks like Sony may be unveiling the FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II lens at CP+ 2023 in February – a very exciting prospect! With the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II already being such a success, let’s cross our fingers that the new one is smaller, lighter and with even better optics than the original.
With the updates to the standard zoom and telephoto zoom F2.8 lenses already in place, the renewal of the 16-35mm F2.8 wide-angle zoom feels like a natural next step. I’m more interested in the “20-70mm F4 G” rumors myself, but for those longing for a lightweight 16-35mm F2.8 alternative to the 24-70mm F2.8, this could be a dream come true. As for pricing and release date, those remain a mystery for now. Details usually surface around a month before the announcement, so we may be in for a flurry of speculation after the start of the year.

Sony has already launched the “FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II”, and judging from the finish of this lens, the “FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II” is also smaller and lighter than the original lens and has improved optical performance. I have high hopes that it will be a lens that is ready for use.
Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 G Lens
Sony also listed ” FE 20-70mm F4.0 G ” as they are planning to announce two FE lenses soon . This lens will be a standard zoom G lens with F4 through which rumors surfaced in December.
With just two weeks to go until the end of the year, we are all wondering if Sony will have any exciting new product announcements. Early 2023 could see a slew of innovative lenses released, but fans of the brand are also keen to see what cameras the company has up its sleeve. CP+ is, of course, the perfect platform for Sony to make those unveilings, and hopefully they will introduce some truly revolutionary designs to keep us all on the edge of our seats! Not only that, but the potential to witness technology that has not been used before could point to where Sony and the industry are heading. There’s no doubt that this could be a great chance to get a glimpse into the manufacturer’s future.
